Blacker Swan Falklands Merino 4 ply
Blacker Swan was launched in 2012 as a joint venture between Blacker Yarns and Andrez and Ali Short at Swan Inlet Farm on the Falkland Islands. Andrez and Ali are now retired, but have passed their flock of Dohne merinos on to Mike and Donna Evans at Spring Point farm. They send their fleeces to the UK where The Natural Fibre Company turns the fine wool into luxurious single flock yarns. They have created a pure white 100% merino yarn, and then ivory, grey and fawn yarns by blending with a small amount of black Bluefaced Leicester and brown Shetland wool. There is then also a range of overdyed colours based on the ivory blend, named as far as possible after native plants on the Falkland Islands, some of which are very rare. This is an extremely high quality yarn, very soft, smooth and luxurious - possibly the best knitting yarn in the world!
